Do you love the horror genre? Do you love the comic book medium? What if I told you there was a whole, wide world of horror comics waiting for you to explore? Like a movie or a prose novel, a comic book is just another way to tell a story – such as a horror story.

Nick Ulanowski, a horror author, local journalist and comic book critic, will moderate the Why Horror Comics? panel. It will feature a roundtable discussion with “Hack-Slash” creator Tim Seeley, “Vampires of New Jersey” writer Alton Simpson, “Foot Fist Frankenstein” creator Tom Kelly and Lifeline Comics owners Phil Falco and Kat Calamia.

We’ll answer why we make horror comics and why you should read them. We’ll discuss what draws us to horror stories and why the comic book medium is a unique way to tell them. The panel will be engaging for seasoned horror comic fans and accessible to curious horror fans who haven’t read any horror comics yet.

Near the end of the panel, we’ll open it up to questions from the audience. The first five people to ask a question will receive free signed copies of Nick Ulanowski’s horror novel “Massacre at the Comic Shop.” Additionally, attendees of Why Horror Comics? will be the first to see the cover artwork for Nick Ulanowski’s next book, “Truth Before Comfort: Confessions of a Comic Book Journalist.”
