Two members of the creative team have shared their thoughts and love for the project. Who better to learn more about the book than the creators themselves?
Drew Kafoury – BQC Founder & Publisher (pictured right) – pens the four-issue miniseries The Young No’madds and doesn’t hold back his excitement for this tale. “The Young No’madds is a new universe, featuring new heroes in a new adventure. It’s only spiritually connected to my original No’madd trilogy, in the sense that they both deal with similar values, insurmountable odds, and a feeling of adventure.“
Kafoury continues, “At Battle Quest Comics, we tell stories about heroes who go on journeys and have epic battles. No’madd is the journey of an older hero, a father. Whereas The Young No’madds is the journey of much younger heroes…teenagers. These are fundamentally different stories on completely different worlds.”
Providing illustrations is Aaron McConnell (pictured left), who shares his passion for the series. “I drew the first concept sketches of the central protagonists of The Young No’madds back in late 2021 and I’m finishing the art for the 4th issue almost 3 years later. This is definitely the most hours I’ve clocked in drawing and developing characters within complex world-building, and it’s been a challenging and rewarding experience.”
McConnell continues by expressing his investment in the title and its characters; not just for personal growth, but taking readers’ perspective into mind. “I’ve tried to up my game with each issue and I’m hoping the growth shows and that our readers feel a sense of connection to these characters as they progress on their journey.” Aaron sums it up beautifully with, “I feel confident in saying this is the strongest comic book story I’ve ever worked on.“
